Printing Web Data Documents
So, you found the data you need and would like to get a copy fast. Printing a web document is easy, just hit the upper left file tab and a menu will drop down. From this menu, you can preview the document before you print it on your printer. The most important thing to successful printing is to try to get everything on one (1) page. Sometimes this is impossible given the size of the document or the type of document before you. This is where the "Page Setup" menu option becomes very important. This option allows you to change the print parameters of the document so that you can customize the look of the print job. For example, if you are using the Netscape or Microsoft browser you can change your margins to grab more of your page. First, get rid of headers and footers and also change the alignment of the page (horizontal, landscape versus vertical, portrait). Many of the data documents on the OPRE website have been setup as 1 page vertical, portrait, printed documents. To print them on one page you should change all of your print margins to .10" (Netscape) or .166" (Microsoft). A good number of the data documents are in Adobe .PDF format and you would print these from the Adobe menu (upper left corner of the Adobe menu screen). The free Adobe reader allows print adjustments also.
More printing hints will be available as we receive them from you. If you have a hint that you would like to share, e-mail us here. Thanks!
