Organization
  1. List the basic functions of the nervous system.
  2. Describe the levels of organization in the nervous system and state the function(s) of each division and subdivision.
  3. Describe the structure and function(s) of the supporting cells in the CNS and PNS.

Myelination
  1. List the structures (cells) forming the myelin sheath in the CNS and PNS.
  2. Explain the importance of the myelin sheath.
  3. Describe the process of myelination in the PNS.

Neurons
  1. List the general characteristics of neurons.
  2. List and define the structural components of neurons.
  3. Describe the structure and function(s) of unipolar, bipolar and multipolar neurons.
  4. Explain the functions of sensory neurons, interneurons, and motor neurons.

Definitions
  1. Define a nerve fiber.
  2. Define a nerve and a tract.
  3. Define a ganglion (ganglia) and a nucleus (nuclei).
