  2. Define and describe the membranes of the bone (periosteum and endosteum).

Chemical Composition of Bone

  1. Describe the organic components of bone.
  2. Describe the inorganic components of bone.

Bone Development

  1. Define intramembranous ossification.
  2. List and describe the steps of intramembranous ossification.
  3. Give examples of bones that develop by intramembranous ossification.
  4. Define endochondral ossification.
  5. List and describe the steps of endochondral ossification.
  6. Give examples of bones that develop by endochondral ossification.

Postnatal Bone Growth

  1. Define interstitial growth.
  2. Describe the steps of interstitial (in length) growth.
  3. Define and describe appositional (in width) growth.

Hormonal Regulation of Bone
