Re: ERSC 101 – Introduction to Earth Science
Welcome to ERSC 101. My name is Paula Noeller; and I am the instructor of the course. Essential course information is now available at http://student.ccbcmd.edu/courses/ersc101c . You should access this information as soon as you receive this letter and prior to logging into WebCT/Blackboard. Among these public pages you will find the course syllabus and information concerning the number of hours per week you can expect to spend on the course. Textbook information is available in the syllabus. You also have access to unit 1 and the unit 1 labs by clicking on the Units of Study link. Please review the public materials and confirm that you have both the academic and technical prerequisites and the recommended amount of time to devote to the course. We have found that student success is directly related to the amount of time they spend on the course. If you do not have the prerequisites or recommended amount of time in your schedule, I suggest you discuss your situation with an advisor. You should not log into the passworded portions of the course until you have reviewed the public pages.
After reviewing the public pages, return to the home page and read the instructions for getting started in the course. Follow the instructions carefully, adhering to the recommended timeline. The official start date of the course is August 31, 2009; however, I will grant everyone early access to the passworded portions of the course by August 25, 2009. You should log in to the CCBC WebCT/Blackboard server using the Login button located on the ERSC 101 course public pages at http://student.ccbcmd.edu/courses/ersc101c . Both CCBC and Garrett students should receive your user name and password in a letter from Joel Martin. If you have not received a letter from Joel Martin by August 25, 2009, you can use the instructions on the ERSC 101 public pages home page to access your user name and password. You can also contact me at pnoeller@ccbcmd.edu or 443.570.5048. You should verify that you can log into the course no later than August 31, 2009. All students should begin work on the course no later than that date, although you do have the option of beginning the course as early as August 25, 2009. There are assignments that are due the first week of class; therefore you should not delay in getting started in the course.
If you have any questions or problems, don't hesitate to contact me at pnoeller@ccbcmd.edu. I can also be reached at 443.570.5048 (my cell).
I will serve as both the instructor and the technical support person for the course. Therefore, if you have any problems with the course content, logging in to the course or accessing course material, you should contact me. Hope to hear from you soon...
