MGT464 The Role of the Supervisor and Leadership Styles

Welcome

The number one reason people thrive at work is their boss. It's also the number one reason they quit. (Source: Gallup Organization Study).

The most important person in an employee's life at work is their immediate supervisor. It is up to the supervisor to get the job done. To get the job done, they must work through people, ensuring that motivated employees maximize productivity and quality to accomplish business objectives. Yet, most supervisors are promoted to this job because of their technical skills. It is assumed that they either already have the communication, leadership, and motivation skills or can develop them on the job. Formal training in supervisory skills is all too frequently absent.

If you are reading this, you are considering formal training. Either you are already a supervisor, or are planning to be one. In this course, you will get a clearer picture of the tasks and responsibilities of supervisors, as well as tools and frameworks to use to help you make sense of your environment and make good supervisory decisions.
