Welcome to NURN 005 Dosage for Nurses
This course is designed to instruct nursing students in methods of calculating medication dosages efficiently and with accuracy. This is an online course. A review of basic math and units of measure, as well as introduction to the tools necessary for dosage calculation will be covered. Some students will need to spend more time with a review of mathematics prior to learning specific dosage formulas and content related to dosage calculations. Students who have had experience with dosage calculations may move quickly through the modules. Emphasis of the course is on safe and accurate calculation of adult and pediatric dosage. In order to register for this course you must be accepted into the nursing program. Continuation to the first clinical course in NURN 151 Foundations of Nursing is contingent upon passing the dosage exam with a 95%.
- Review basic math concepts such as ratio and proportion as well as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of fractions and decimals prior to the start of class.
All NURN 005 exams are proctored in a computer lab and are on-line. You will be expected to come to campus to take exams. You are also welcome to visit me on campus during my face to face office hours, which are by appointment, or email me at any time. During the class dates, I will check email regularly and will respond back within 24 hours.
