Welcome to the online Abnormal Psychology (Psych 201) course at the Community College of Baltimore County. My name is Marjan Ghahramanlou Holloway and I am an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Psychology, serving as your instructor in this course. I am confident that you will find the topics discussed in this course fascinating as well as applicable to your future experiences and interactions. Following your successful completion of Abnormal Psychology, you will have an increased understanding of the causes and specific symptoms of psychiatric disorders, their diagnostic classification, assessment, and treatment.

The topics covered in our online course will be identical to those discussed in its traditional counterparts. The major difference is that we will not have face-to-face interaction with one another. Our exchange of information, individual conversations, and group discussions will take place over the Internet. I encourage all of you to consider attending an orientation session during the first week of the semester so that you may better familiarize yourself to the format and structure of this course. I look forward to meeting each of you either personally or "virtually"!

AFTER REGISTERING:

• E-mail me, at least a week prior to the first scheduled day of classes, so that you can receive important course information. Make sure to include the following:

  • Your Preferred Testing Center Location (Catonsville, Dundalk, or Essex)
  • A Brief Statement Outlining Your Reason(s) for Enrolling in Abnormal Psychology
• Attend the course orientation if possible. The orientation date, time and location will be posted under the "Schedule" section. Every student in the course is strongly encouraged to attend this orientation. If unable to attend, please make an individual phone appointment with the instructor in order to review course format and requirements.
