Hardware Requirements for Taking the Virtual Academy

To successfully participate in the Virtual Academy you should meet the following hardware requirements:

Internet Access:

You should have a relatively fast Internet connection. A 56K modem connection is the minimum connection speed. It is more desirable that you access the course via a network connection, a cable modem or a DSL connection.

Minimal Computer Hardware requirements:

  • IBM/Intel machines: Pentium-III with at least 128 Megabytes of memory, although 256 megs of memory are preferred. You need at least a 2 Gigabyte hard drive and monitor.
  • A sound card
  • A CD rom drive are also necessary to play the tutorials.

or

  • Apple Macintosh: Power Mac based machine with at least 32 Megabytes of memory and a minimum 2 Gigabyte hard drive.
  • A sound card
  • CD rom drive are also necessary to play the tutorials.

Operating system:

  • IBM/Intel machines: Windows 98 2nd edition, Window2000, and Windows XP.
  • Mac: Mac OS 9, Mas OS X v10.1x, and Mac OS x v10.2x
