Determining Slopes, Parallel and Perpendicular Lines

1. What is the slope of the line y = -3x + 5


 m = 5

2. Find the slope of the line 4x + 2y =  5.  Hint:  Put the equation in y = mx + b form!

3. Find the slope of the line passing through the points (1-,3) and (4, -2)?

  m = 3

  m = one-third

  m = 0

4. Find the slope of the line passing through (4,3) and (-2, 3).


 m = 0
 m is undefined
 m = 3


5. Find the slope of the line passing through (-1, -5) and (-1, 4).

 m = 0
 m is undefined
 m = -1

6. Find the slope of the line passing through (-2, -3) and (-9, 4).

 m = -11
 m = -1
 m = 1

7. Find the slope of the line x = 6.

 m = 0
 m is undefined
 m = 6

8. Find the slope of the line y = 9.

 m = 0
 m is undefined
 m = 9

9. Find the slope of the line passing (-1, -5) and parallel to the line y = 4x + 2.

 m = - onefourth
 m = - 4
 m = 4

10. Find the slope of the line passing through (-1, -5) and perpendicular to the line 6x + 3y = 5.

 m = 1/2
 m = -2
 m = -1/2
