Addition and Subtraction of Rational Expression

1. Add 3x/y^2zY5 + 3/xy^3z^2.


  6x/(xy^5z^2)

 (3x^2+3)/(xy^2z^2)

  (3x^2y + 3z^3)/(xy^3z^5)


2. Add  -3/[(x^2-2x-8) + 4/(x^2-16).

  1/[(x+2)(x+4)]

  (x-4)/[(x+2)(x+4)(x-4)])

  1/(2x^2-2x-24)


3. Add x^2/(x-5) + (x+20)/(5-x).

  (x + 4)

  20(x-5)/[(x-5)(5-x)]

   20/(5-x)

 

4. Subtract  5 - [6/(7x+8)].

 -1/(7x+8)

 (35x-34)/(7x+8)

 -1/(7x+9)



5. Subtract   (x-1)/(2x^2+9x-5) - [(2x-1)/(2x^2+11x+5)].

  -x/[(x+5)(2x-1)]

  -x/(-2x-10)

  (-2x^2-x-2)/[(x+5)(2x-1)(2x+1)]


6. Write an expression, in simplified form, for the statement  "The difference of a number and 4 times its reciprocal."

  x - (4/x)

 (x^2+4)/x

  (x^2-4)/x
