Hypothesis Test Two Sample Means: Independent Samples

Please note:  This question is not in your TI workbook.

A question was asked about whether or not there was any real difference between the heights of pitchers and catchers in Major League Baseball during the 2005 season. A random sample of 10 major league pitchers from the 2005 season yielded a mean height of 74.4" and a standard deviation of 2.3".  A random sample of 12 catchers yielded a mean of 73.4" and a standard deviation of 1.7". Heights are known to be normally distributed.  At the .01 level of significance, test claim that there is no difference between the height of catchers and pitchers who played during the 2005 season.  Assume the population standard deviations are not known.
