Greenhouse Gas Emissions Data websites
If you’re interested in more information on the UNEP international
guidelines for how countries should measure and count their greenhouse
gas emissions, go to http://www.ipcc-nggip.iges.or.jp/public/gl/invs1.htm.
Closer to home, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has conducted
an inventory of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions for every year since 1990.
Check out the EPA website at http://yosemite.epa.gov/oar/globalwarming.nsf/content/ResourceCenterPublicationsGHGEmissions.html
The state of Maryland conducted a statewide greenhouse gas emissions
inventory in 1990. The inventory can be found at http://www.mde.state.md.us/assets/document/Air/199.
Many other states are working to measure and reduce their greenhouse
gas emissions. Go to http://yosemite.epa.gov/OAR/globalwarming.nsf/content/ActionsState.html
for more information on state programs.
Finally, organizations, such as companies and schools, are getting into
the act as well. Several organization-level greenhouse gas emissions programs
have recently been developed and can be viewed at the following websites:

Online Carbon Calculators
There are lots of individual carbon “calculators” available
on the Internet. If you’d like to learn more, check out any, or
all, of the following:

Setting Greenhouse Gas Targets
In setting your schools greenhouse gas reduction target, take your time.
The goal is to set targets which are meaningful and can be supported by
strategies, mechanisms, and technologies that reduce energy use. Here’s
a couple of websites, which might help to get the ball rolling.
