Governor's
Youth Environmental Summit
In an effort to disseminate
information about environmental careers and education opportunities
and options, the Environment Project facilitated the Governor's
Youth Environmental Summit held in 1997 at the Baltimore Convention
Center. Over 900 high school students and educators from around
the state attended this one-day conference. Project staff
and faculty managed the event with funding received from the
Maryland State Department of Education, the Maryland Association
of Environmental and Outdoor Educators, and the Chesapeake

Gwynns
Falls Business Outreach Program
The focus of the Gwynns Falls
Business Outreach Program was to increase business and institution
participation in environmental activities within the Gwynns
Falls watershed. Beginning in mid-1998, Environment Project
staff worked to identify and network businesses and institutions
located in watershed with the Gwynns Falls Watershed Association
(GFWA). The Environment Project also assisted the Baltimore
County Department of Environmental Protection and Resource
Management (DEPRM) to launch a business outreach and technical

Southwest
Baltimore Repair & Reuse Pilot Project
The goal of the Southwest
Baltimore Repair and Reuse Pilot Project is to catalyze sustainable
economic growth in southwest Baltimore by networking and empowering
material goods repair and reuse businesses by: 1. Increasing
consumer awareness of environmental benefits of repair/reuse,
developing tools for consumer purchase/repair decisions, thereby
empowering consumers, and; 2. Working with repair & reuse
businesses to develop strategic initiatives for increasing
market share and networking repair & reuse business to implement
