I am a full-time faculty member in the Math and Science Division's Department of Environmental Science. I bring an extensive and diverse background in environmental management to CCBC. I earned Batchelor and Masters degrees in Chemical Engineering, the former from the University of New Hampshire and the latter from the University of Toledo. My Masters degree, supported by an EPA Fellowship, focused on environmental engineering. My engineering experience has included positions in industry, government, and consulting. I have worked on projects dealing with air and water quality, process modifications for environmental improvement, and solid and hazardous waste management.

I became interested in the role of economic systems in creating the waste sites that my engineering colleagues and I were trying to clean up. That drew me into my doctoral studies in Regional Science at the University of Pennsylvania, where I earned my Ph.D. degree. My areas of specialization at Penn were environmental economics and Input-Output Analysis. I then worked as a resource economist for the federal government before coming to CCBC. I have taught related courses at the University of Pennsylvania and at the Maryland Institute College of Art. I have research interests in holistic approaches to progress toward sustainable development.

My outside interests include mountain climbing, hiking, backpacking, sailing, skiing, and tennis. I have lived in Japan, Tanzania, and a number of States in the U.S. I currently live in suburban Baltimore, Maryland.

During the Fall 2008 Semester, I will be teaching the following courses:
