Set Up an E-mail Client

Thunderbird

Mozilla Thunderbird is a nice open-source email and newsgroup client that works on Linux, Mac, and Windows.

Step 1

First download Mozilla Thunderbird from: http://www.mozilla.org/products/thunderbird/
If you need instructions for installing it you can find them at: http://www.mozilla.org/products/thunderbird/releases/#install

Step 2

When you start Thunderbird for the first time it will prompt you to enter your account information.

If it doesn't you can go to the Tools menu and click on Account Settings, then click on the Add Account button. Select "Email Account" and hit next.

Step 3

Type in your full name and your email address and click next.

Step 4

Select "IMAP" and type linux.ccbcmd.edu where it says "Incoming Server" and click next.

Step 5

Type in the your username. This is the part before @linux.ccbcmd.edu in your email address. Click next.

Step 6

Type in your email address and hit next.

Step 7

Check over your settings to make sure they're right. If you find anything wrong you can hit back to correct it. If everything it correct click finish.

Your Done!

You should now be able to receive your mail, if you have any, by clicking on the "Get Mail" button at the top left of Thunderbird. You can test your account by clicking the "Write" button and sending an email to yourself, then clicking the "Get Mail" button.
