Design Process Project 06: Artist Presentation
- Points possible: 100
- Due at the beginning of class on December 2nd
- For this project you will need to create a presentation of a specific artist or designer
- Your presentation should have at least 5 sample images of the artist's work
- Your presentation should compare the artist's work to at least one other artist's work
- Your presentation should be between 2-3 minutes in length
Design Process Project 07: Hand-Lettered Poster
- Points possible: 100
- Due at the beginning of class on December 9th
- For this project you will need to create a hand-lettered poster for a concert
- The bands that you pick need to be real performers, not made up
- Your poster needs to be hand-lettered and drawn; no computer work is allowed! (you may use tracing techniques though)
- Your poster should be at least 85% type, 15% image
- The size of your poster should be no smaller than a piece of your bristol, but no larger than 24x36 inches
- Sketches are due next week at the beginning of class!

Design Process Project 03: Line Styles
- Points possible: 100
- This project is due by the beginning of class next Wednesday
- Your challenge for this project is to create 6 different line styles
- Each line style should exhibit a different look and evoke a different feeling
- Each line should be represented by drawing a shape (any simple polygon up to a decagon, or an ellipse) using the line style
- You should use a piece of your bristol with a 1" border on the top, left, and right sides, and a 2" border on the bottom; the space inside of the border is your picture plane (image space)
- Please place your name, ARTS 131 EG1, and Project 03 Line Styles on the back, bottom right corner of the bristol
- Shapes may overlap within the picture plane or be cropped by the edge of the picture plane, but each of the 6 line styles should be represented

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT FROM SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 5TH
If you are unable to purchase your textbook from the Essex bookstore, we are aware of the issue and have ordered additional copies. You will not be penalized if you do not have the reading assigned last week completed when you come to class this week. Please check back with the Essex bookstore during this week and purchase a copy of the text once the additional copies arrive.

Design Process Project 01: Concept is Key

- You will have 2 hours during class to complete this project; it's due after the 2 hours are up

The Design Samples Collection
- Each week I will assign 2-3 visual examples of design terminology that you'll need to gather and place into a Powerpoint, web site, etc.
- Each sample's slide, screen, etc. must be labeled with the week from which it was assigned and the title of the sample
- Some samples may also involve some simple writing to accompany them; please use your words for the writings
- All design samples must be submitted digitally, but you may choose to photograph and/or scan physical objects for samples
- Please do the design samples each week as they are assigned for I may choose to discuss what you've found at any time
- Half of your samples will be due to me at mid-term on Wednesday, October 14th
- All of your samples will be due for final grading on Wednesday, December 16th
