Online Pedagogy
The purpose of this module is to help gain a better understanding of the changes necessary in order to move a class online as well as to teach the course after it is moved. This module deals with an overview of information you will need prior to the development of the technical aspects of Dreamweaver and WebCT. Within this module you will begin to plan what will go into your course and how best to aid the learning process for your students.
At the conclusion of the Online Pedagogy Activities, you will be able to:
- differentiate between a fully onlnie course, a hybrid course, and a course wiht a Web presence;
- list the advantages and disadvantages of creating an online course from scratch;
- decide which type of online learning experience you will provide for your students;
- explain the ways the roles of the instructor and student changes in an online course and the challenges the role shifts present;
- discuss how an instructor might adapt his/her teaching style to adapt to the needs of students with different learning styles;
- identify the ways to apply the Principles of Good Practice throughout an online course;
- identify online activities that can be used to achieve the course objectives for an online course;
- identify existing course materials that can be used in the online environment;
- explore learning activity resources that are available online;
- plan a module overview and module activity for an online course;
- design a module for an online course that identifies the appropriate course learning goal(s), objectives, learning activities, assessment techniques, deadline, time on task required, and impact on the student's grade;
- explore the online resources provided by CCBC for online course developers; and
- discuss the importance of applying the Principles of Good Practice throughout an online course.

Assignment:
For the online pedagogy section of the Virtual Academy, the assignment is to complete the Module-at-a-Glance for a module within the course you will be teaching. Make sure that your module lists objectives, activities, and the assessment tool(s) for your module. These should all be connected so that the activities reinforce the objectives and the assessment measures that which was covered by the activities. Some time will be spent in the class session going over the expectations for this assignment.
