Repeat Sections

The sections offered through the Catonsville campus have section designators of ZQ1, ZQ2, etc.

These courses are special repeat sections open only to students that completed the course once (including completion of the Final Exam). These sections are one billable hour for five weeks. Students needing additional time may register for another five weeks for an additional billable hour.

Students are assessed in the beginning of the course to determine the material that the student is missing from the first time through the course. Each student spends the five-weeks of the course on the material he or she needs to cover in a lab with an instructor available for assistance. At the end of the five-weeks, each student takes an individualized exam on the material they have been working on to determine the grade for the course.

Most of the testing for these sections is completed online (within the Testing Center) in order to allow prompt feedback from the instructor on the student's progress.

Students interested in these sections MUST contact the math department in order to receive a signature on their registration form. Without a department signature, students are unable to register for these sections.

Students that master the material for the course as outlined by their instructor will earn a C for the course and then be eligible to register for the next sequential math course.

Students that do not attend class may be given an internal grade of FX which means failure due to non-attendance. This grade is used for advisement purposes at CCBC and would appear as an F on any transcript sent to external offices.

It is CCBC's policy that students are allowed to register (that includes W, AU, and F grades) twice for any course. In order to register for the thrid time, a student needs to meet with the Learning Assitance Coordinator on campus to explain their situation and request permission to register for the third attempt. The Learning Assistance Coordiantor, in conjunction with the Math Department Chair, will determine if the student will be allowed to register for a third time or not. Please take each attempt at a course seriously as permission may not be granted for the third time.
