COMPUTER LAB (S304)
 |
The new computer lab for Developmental Mathemtics was
made available through a National Science Foundation grant and the support
of the college. Review Mathematics is taught both in the new computer lab
and in the adjacent classroom area. The course is self-paced,
so that a student proceeds to review mathematics at a pace and methodology
suitable for that student. The course is taught by an instructor
who guides the student through the material, using the computer software,
the text, and videos. |
*Our
new lab is really a classroom.
*Credits to Norman J. McCullough of Media Services
for taking pictures for us.
 |
The instructor continually checks on the progress of
the students and helps with math concepts and problems. |
 |
Some classes have faculty/student tutors assigned to
the class, who also help students if they have questions. |
 |
Students may discuss a math problem with each other. |
 |
*The computer software is one of the main instructional
tools used in the classroom. |
 |
*The software is interactive because the student must
respond to the various parts of a problem; the student then gets feedback
regarding his/her response. |
 |
Students take notes during the demonstration, tutorial,
and practice problem parts of the software. |
I hope you have enjoyed this brief tour of our new computer
