STANDARDS ADDRESSED:

 

a)     P-12 Variety of teaching strategies

 

 

GENERAL GOAL(S):  Identification and analysis of studentsÕ learning styles will guide the instructor towards the optimal method(s) of presenting information  to those students. 

 

 

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:  Instructor will identify the predominant learning style(s) of a class.  The instructor will then consult the detailed information on these learning styles found on the website in the lesson and use some of the tips found there.

STEP-BY-STEP PROCEDURES:

 

a)     Instructor takes test

b)    Instructor completes user profile form as ÒteacherÓ or ÒinstructorÓ

c)     Instructor is validated

d)     Instructor links to ÒManaging your groupsÓ and follows directions

e)     Students take test

f)     Instructor analyzes data

g)    Instructor reads detailed information on learning styles

h)    Instructor modifies instructional method to accommodate learning styles

 

 

ASSESSMENT BASED ON OBJECTIVES:  Compare grades and retention rate at end of semester of these classes to a similar class taught a previous semester by the same instructor.  If it is a first-year instructor, then compare grades and retention rate to a similar class taught by an experienced instructor.
