Jay Voris

Jay Voris is a 16-year-old high school junior in an independant study program with The Learning Community International. He is an active participant of the Howard Area Homeschoolers group under the guidance of Dr. Catherine Asaro. He is also in the Young Scholars Program at UMBC. He was encouraged by Dr. Thomas Armstrong, his UMBC math seminar course professor, to take on the challenge of the Catonsville Mathematics Competitions/CCBC Math Contest.
Jay is an African hand drummer (on the djembe) and enjoys singing in a community choral group, playing computer games, and practising Taichi and Taichi sword. He is also investigating the practice of medieval martial arts. Jay is looking forward to studying engineering as he continues his formal education in college.
