Course Description

The UNIX Operating System provides the student with the fundamental concepts of the popular AT&T developed software. The course begins with a history of UNIX, then covers such topics as Linux / UNIX files, utilities, Shell programming, text editing, UNIX commands, and communication features. The administration of a Linux / UNIX system and the marketplace for UNIX knowledge and services are also discussed. 

Prerequisites

The prerequisite for this course is CINS-101 or the consent of the Program Director.

Getting Started

You should attend one of the scheduled orientation sessions. You will receive your login ID and a password that you'll use to access the weekly lessons at the orientation session.

To get started, take a look at the links below, making sure to fill out the Initial Information Form.  In general, each lesson will consist of a reading assignment, lecture notes, programming assignments, and review quizzes.  At any point, if you need help, you'll be able to push the Help! link to send me a note.
