The Geospatial Applications program provides comprehensive instruction in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), photogrammetry and remote sensing and Global Positioning Systems (GPS). Geospatial techniques are used to aid in decision making in fields as diverse as business, marketing, homeland security, public policy, environment, engineering, public health, archeology and criminal justice by identifying patterns between graphical information (maps) and data. A unique aspect of the CCBC Geospatial program is the incorporation of real-world situations in all courses, starting at the introductory level.
The sequence of courses for the degree and certificates may be taken full or part time and courses are offered both day and evening. Download the program brochure here.

Students who enter the Geospatial Applications program may pursue a 2 year A.A.S. degree or choose from two certificate options. The Associate of Applied Science degree is offered for students planning to transfer to a four year institution to complete a bachelor’s degree. The Introduction to Geospatial Applications certificate (13 credits) is designed for those who need immediate skills to initially enter the Geospatial/Geographic Information (GIS) workplace or for those who are already in the field and need to enhance their skills. The introductory certificate will give students a background in project development, data acquisition, geospatial analysis and presentation, Global Positioning Systems (GPS), and incorporation of remote sensing imagery into a GIS. The Advanced Geospatial Applications Certificate (23 credits) provides comprehensive instruction in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), photogrammetry and remote sensing, and Global Positioning Systems (GPS). The Advanced Certificate provides additional experience in advanced spatial analysis and project design and management. The certificate option is focused on core courses and immediate employment in the field.
